There is a lot of talk lately about separation anxiety in dogs. What exactly is it?
Separation Anxiety is usually pretty easy to spot. The dog usually gets very anxious and stressed when the owner leaves them. Behavioral problems such as barking, digging, and trying to escape are very common manifestations.
Most people can tell if their dog has separation anxiety pretty easily. The more difficult question is what to do to help your dog. It really depends on the age of your dog, how long you have had them, and how bad the separation anxiety is for your pet. Many puppies will have it to some degree. With a puppy, it can often be managed early on so it doesn’t have to turn into a huge problem.
